5 College Bars In The Salem Area You Must Try

If you are a college student and 21 preferably and you're looking for a good time on the weekends or maybe sometimes during the week then these five bars are a must-try. They are all unique in their own ways and offer a different experience at each of them. Come on it's time to switch it up on the weekends, you can only go to the same campus parties so many times before they get old.

1. Murphy's Pub Salem.

Murphy's is the place to go on Thursday nights! First of all it is college night there for both Endicott and Salem State students so this means with a student ID there is no cover charge, you can save that $5 for another drink at the bar. Since Salem State students are also at the bar you aren't seeing all the same Endicott faces you would see on campus, yes a lot of Endicott students will be at Murphy's but this gives you a mix of new and different people. Downstairs in Murphy's is super chill if you wanna talk and play some pool and then upstairs has more of the club type feeling with a DJ looking over the dance floor.

2. The Pickled Onion Beverly.

Looking for something to do on a Wednesday night? Maybe some karaoke?? Well get those singing voices ready and head over to The Pickled Onion in Beverly. Even if you don't want to sing go support some friends get some drinks and have yourself a great night! Trust me it is a lot of fun even if you are to afraid to sing in front of a ton of people like me maybe you'll sing along on the sidelines with some friends as others do the real work up front.

3. Village Tavern Salem.

Looking for a bar to go to that has a little bit of everything? Then the Village Tavern is the place to be at. It may not have a designated day to go on, but that's even better since it is the place to go almost any night during the weekend. They have pool tables, dartboards, a dance floor, and a big bar area that you can sit or stand around and hangout with some friends at. They also have great deals on beers and bartenders that walk around selling $2 jello shots made with different kinds of liquor. How can you say no to that!? I know I didn't.

4. Rockafellas.

Rockafellas is an interesting mix of people; it ranges from college students to adults. But they have great little live bands playing pretty much every weekend. If you are looking for a change from the DJ's and are in dire need of some good live music to dance to then this is definitely the place. Also you must try the drink called the Grateful Dead, just do it!

5. Salem Beer Works.

Looking for a place to relax and try some new beers then this is the place for you. It is a great place to hangout with some friends, get some food and try all sorts of different beers. Maybe try their sampler racks or one of their Funky beers such as the Spring Farmhouse Ale. Don't worry if you are not a beer person they do have wine and cocktails as well!

P.S. You must be 21 to go to these must-try bars!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
