It's that time of the year again. Thanksgiving is over, it's time to crank up the Christmas music and deck the halls (falalalala). In the spirit of getting excited for Christmas, here is college life told by one of the best Christmas movies of all time, 'Elf':

1. When you're late.

You're late to your 8am class, you look like a mess, all you want to do is sleep, and your professor greets you at the door oblivious to the fact it's 8:10 in the morning and you woke up 4 minutes ago.

2. Walking without looking...college style.

Growing up you were taught to look both ways before crossing the street. In college, you walk across the street without checking traffic, hoping the cars hit you so you can use that money to pay for your tuition.

3. Professors are liars.

When your professor tells you not to worry because there won't be anything on the final that you haven't discussed in class. And then you look at the first question on the final...

4. Procrastination? Nah, its relaxation.

Sitting in your room at 3:45 a.m. typing the paper due at 8 a.m. that you promised yourself you would have done two weeks ago when it was assigned.

5. Those midnight munchies cravings.

Always hungry and never have any food? Welcome to the life of a college kid, those midnight munchies fill your mind with the possible cures like KFC, Sheetz, Taco Bell and basically any other restaurant that has food.

6. When you check your grades for the first time in three weeks.

Thank you Ecampus for reminding me to check my grades, you're a blessing and a curse...mostly just a curse.

7. Telling everyone the reason for your bad grades is your bad professor.

Blame EVERYTHING on the professor. Its ALWAYS their fault.

8. When you recognize a friend at a party you didn't know they were going to.

Seeing a friend at a party is a hand given gift from God. This usually turns into a night full of regrets, embarassment, and A LOT of dancing and singing.

9. We call our parents WAYYYYY too often.

Me: "Hi mom and dad. I miss you!"

Them: "We miss you too but we just talked to you 10 minutes ago."

10. Even though we are college students we still act like we are seven-year-olds.

Something about making animal noises and screaming at people on the street from the window of my dorm room gives me excitement. They say its the little things...right?

11. Buddy is college, and you are Buddy's dad.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
