Meet the Reporter: 5 Binge Worthy TV Shows

In This Article:

So long as we're all practicing self-quarantining, odds are the bond between ourselves, our TV, and our couch are going to get a lot stronger. Knowing some good television shows can eliminate what I call "click frustration". Here are the five shows I've been binge watching that won't disappoint.

Yes, they're all over the place, and yes most are 30-minute storyline shows. I never really was a "season" television viewer, I just don't have that much time to dedicate towards one show.

5. MythBusters

If you like explosions, myths, and dudes with incredible mustaches, they you need to check out re-runs of Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage in this show. I saw an episode the other night that was testing out the age-old myth that a sneeze can travel 30 feet!

4. MLB Network

Yes, I'm working an entire network into my list because I feel like it. You all know by now how deep my love for this sport is. So, whether it's World Series game reruns, "MLB Tonight", or baseball movies all day long…sign me up!

3. Home Town

This "HGTV" show features a very cute and humorous couple (Ben and Erin Napier) who renovate homes in their own hometown, Laurel, Mississippi. They go out of their way to tell the history behind every house they renovate, which I appreciate. Fun Fact: Before I found a love for broadcasting, writing, and marketing, my dream job as a young kid was to become an interior designer.

2. Impractical Jokers

In a world filled with fear and uncertainty at this point in time, we could all use a laugh to get us through each day. That's exactly what Joe Gatto, Brian Quinn, James Murray, and Sal Vulcano give to us with this glorious show on "truTV". Hidden camera challenge shows while real life is happening around these jokesters is so gripping to me. The filmed some scenes at the Palisades Center in West Nyack, New York. I only say this because that mall is a short drive from where I grew up, and I used to go there all the time before I came out to Arizona. Cool little nugget.

1. Family Guy

Anybody shocked this is number one? It's safe to say that Seth MacFarlane is a genius for the creation of this show decades ago. The Griffin family is so relatable in certain episodes. I love the animation, the cutaways, and the young adult targeted humor. It's no surprise that whenever a tv channel has re-runs of this show on, I stop scrolling instantly.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
