As my wristband lighted up red in sync with the 92,542 other wristbands in the Rose Bowl Stadium I knew Coldplay was taking the stage. I could feel my heart beating faster in excitement, I have wanted to see Coldplay in concert more than anything for the past two years and my dreams were finally coming true. And let me tell you Coldplay did not disappoint in the slightest. In fact it was the best concert I have ever been to (and I saw One Direction twice at a time in my life when I wanted to marry them).
From the beginning the production details of the performance were breathtaking. Seeing your wristbands lighting up in sync in a stadium that big allowed you to feel like an intricate part of the show. All of the different lights and videos came together to really create a magical place that the concert was taking place in. The fireworks and confetti throughout the show went perfectly with the songs and created such excitement throughout the audience.
Not only were the effects on point, but Coldplay themselves were. They sounded exactly like the recorded songs showing truly how talented they all are. Their stage presence and energy were phenomenal as well. Chris Martin was doing sprints across the runway to the beats of songs and never once sounded like he was out of breath. The chemistry between the band members could be felt as well. When they would stop to talk to the audience and joke around, you knew that this was their dream come true, that they were having fun, and that all the wanted was for us to join in on the fun with them. The show I went to was also lucky enough to have a special guest appearance from James Cordon from the Late Late Show who gave Prince tribute performance.
Even more astounding than the sheer talent, incredible performance, and colorful special effects were the good vibes and love that was spread throughout the audience that day. I have always found that there is a Coldplay song for every mood that I'm in: songs to get you through the hard times and songs to celebrate the good times with. Throughout the concert they ingeniously interwove their older and new songs together to capture every sound they have ever offered to us for the past sixteen years they have been creating music. Chris Martin even stopped before playing Everglow to tell everyone to send love to anyone anywhere in the country; to send good vibes to Orlando, Germany, and Baton Rouge and ended the song with a video clip of Muhammad Ali talking about helping out humanity. They sent an incredible message to the audience and the togetherness people felt that night was coupled with everyone's matching wristbands. So, thank you Coldplay for the most incredible concert I have ever been to and for all the love that you spread.
