If there is one concert I would highly recommend going to when they're touring, it's Coldplay. Their concerts never let you sit down. You are constantly entertained by Chris Martin's (the lead singer) theatrics and interactions with the crowd. The best part is is that they are friendly and fun for all ages.
A British rock/alternative band, Coldplay became famous worldwide because of songs like "Clocks," "Yellow," "Viva La Vida," and a more recent one as part of their 2016 album "A Head Full of Dreams," "Adventure of a Lifetime." Headed by Martin, the band has been together since 1996 (the year of my birth- but this band is timeless), and every album since then has gotten better and better.
Coldplay's most recent album, "A Head Full of Dreams," is absolutely amazing by my standards. Songs such as "Hymn for the Weekend" (with a cameo by Beyonce), "Adventure of a Lifetime," and "Up&Up," highlight the colorful album that almost takes you to an alternative world. The sounds are unique, and don't let you get tired of the songs.
They announced another world tour for this album, and fortunately I was able to go to their Denver stop with a friend and my parents this past August. Before this concert, I had always loved reading about and watching people get their tickets upgraded to amazing seats on concert documentaries. Little did my friend and I know that we would be having the experience of a lifetime that night.
We had seats in the nosebleed section of the Pepsi Center, but they weren't bad at all. I liked our view; we could see everything going on and it was amazing to soak it all in before Coldplay even came on.
My friend and I were standing up, finding and waving to my parents on the side of the first level. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a man with a Coldplay shirt walking towards us up the stairs. I thought nothing of it; he was just an attendee who already had a Coldplay shirt on.
Next thing we knew, he walked up to us and told us he worked for Coldplay. He was looking for "superfans" of the band. He asked us a few questions about Coldplay. After we answered them to the best of our abilities, he asked us if we would like for our parents to be waving at us from the second row. We freaked out and were so excited to be two rows away from the stage.
We ran like 12 year old girls at a Jonas Brothers (rip) concert down to our new seats on the floor. We still could not believe what had just happened to us. The feeling was surreal. To be so close to a well-known band that I had liked for a long time was amazing.
The experience overall was once-in-a-lifetime. I could not have asked for a better night. So again, if there is one concert you should definitely try to go to when they are touring, it's Coldplay.
