A Thank You Letter To Coffee

Without you, I'd never make it through 8 A.M. lectures.

Dear Coffee,

First, I’d like to say thank you for being there. Through both the bad and the good, I can always count on you to change my mood and lift my spirits. I don’t know how I would have made it through the last three years of college without you. Thank you for making sure I start off everyday at my best. Without you, I’d just be a cranky, dysfunctional mess. But with your help, I am always ready to tackle any thing that comes my way.

Thank you for the many road trips on which you’ve kept me company. Long drives can be lonely and tiring, but with you there I’m always sure that I’ll make it. You in the cup holder never failed to complete any road trip home for the weekend. I’d like to also thank you for the many plane rides you’ve kept me company. Flying may not be my favorite thing, but a warm cup of you keeps me calm throughout the flight. Thank you for being one of my favorite travel buddies.

Thank you for the Sunday mornings you helped me prepare for the dreaded Monday Blues. As hard as I try, sometimes leaving most of my homework until Sunday just happens. You always seem to know how to get me to focus and get the job done. I’m not sure I would be able to get everything under control without a great burst of caffeine. Mondays never seem so tough with you on my desk to remind me that I can handle any extremely long lecture.

Without you, 8 A.M. classes would be nearly impossible. No one willingly wants to sit in class that early, especially me. However, whether iced or hot, you woke me up and made early mornings seem like an easy feat. Thank you for being the first one to put a smile on my face that early in the morning.

Thank you for helping me during every finals week. I would never make it through six-hour study sessions at the library without your motivation. You keep me awake and alert. You are always there until the job gets done. So thank you, coffee, for getting me through that brutal Natural Disasters final.

You always seem to know me and understand exactly what I want. Some mornings it was espresso and others it was simply French Vanilla. No matter the circumstances, your varieties are there to create endless possibilities. Thank you for changing with me. Before I may have wanted cream and sugar, but thank you for accepting that my taste has now changed.

Thank you for making each workday possible throughout the summer. Like many college students, I spent my summer working back at home. Some days I dreaded getting out of my cozy bed. However, with a sip of you, I was able to power through each day.

Thank you, coffee, for being one of the biggest supporters of my college career. With you by my side, I will have no problem breezing through senior year.

Sincerely,

Your Biggest Fan

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
