A Thank You Letter To Coffee

To all of the espresso shots, iced white chocolate mochas, and delicious cappuccinos that I have consumed throughout my years on this planet, this is a thank you to you.

Thank you, coffee, for all of the times you’ve been there for me. You've been there for the days when I don't get enough sleep and wake up groggy, when I’m just running low on energy throughout a particularly long day when I’m in need of something caffeinated and delicious and so much more. Through all of the good and bad days, you’ve been there.

I don’t know if it’s sad how dependent on you I am, but the truth is I can depend on you to be there whenever I need you. Thank you for being so easily accessible. Whether I just get some of you from the convenience of my Keurig at home or decide to drop a few bucks on a yummy Starbucks drink, you never fail to satisfy my coffee needs.

I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t very in love with you the first time you graced my tastebuds with your presence - but alas, eventually you won my taste buds and me over. I'm sorry for all of the times I tried to distort your delicious flavor with way too much creamer and sugar - I didn't know what I was doing. But I have come to truly appreciate you in your natural form. Thanks for getting me through those late night study sessions, those early morning flights, and those long work shifts. I’m especially not sure I’d be able to get through this whole college thing without you, especially come finals week.

Thank you for all of the different combinations and drinks I can get you in; from frappuccinos to espresso shots you have a drink for my every craving and taste delicious in every form you come in. Thank you for keeping me cool and caffeinated on hot summer days and warm and energized during the colder days.

Without you there for me almost every morning, I’m not sure I’d ever be able to get out of bed before noon - you make early mornings possible. No matter what kind of mood I’m in, you always seem to make my days a little bit brighter. You’re perfect for every occasion and a perfect addition to any day. Thank you for bringing people together - You bring people together with coffee dates and cute little cafés to make studying a little more pleasant.

Thank you for existing, coffee. I’m not entirely sure where I’d be without you, so for your existence, I am thankful. Thank you for making life a little more delicious and easier to get through on a day to day basis. You’re the best, coffee.

Love always,

A Forever Fan

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
