I'm a big fan of anything with caffeine. Honestly, I would drink pure caffeine if I could. Usually the two drinks most caffeine addicts go for are coffee and tea. I love both, I really do. But to me, coffee is just simply better. Before college though, I was a huge fan of tea. I loved cold tea, hot tea, sweet tea, unsweetened tea and any other tea you could think of (except for herbal tea because that stuff is gross). In fact, I had always thought coffee was gross. To me, it looked and tasted like dirty water. I couldn't understand why anyone would drink it. Then, one night freshman year at 2 a.m., I was given good coffee for the first time. At first I didn't know how to feel. It wasn't as horrible with sugar and milk (I highly recommend and support vanilla almond milk for your milk needs) as I had once thought. As I began to drink it every day as a way to get caffeine after I had stopped drinking soda, I grew to love the stuff. I had never pictured myself as a coffee person, but I honestly don't know how I went 18 years without this stuff. It's seriously been a life saver.
I still drink tea, but not as much as I used to. It just doesn't do much for me now like it did in the past. I now find myself turning toward coffee every day to keep me going. It's not that I find tea gross, it's just not as effective as coffee is in terms of keeping me awake. I'm no coffee master. Honestly I just use my Keurig most of the time because it's so easy to use. While it doesn't make that great of coffee, it makes the perfect one-serving coffee when you are trying to rush out of the house. Once you use coffee for a while in your Keurig, however, making tea just doesn't work. Because the coffee leaves behind a strong smell and taste, your tea comes out tasting like it was mixed with coffee, and it's gross. I know it would be a simple fix to just clean the Keurig regularly, but who has time for that?
Since I don't like herbal tea, my range of flavors for tea is somewhat small. With coffee, you have a never-ending range flavors and mixtures. As someone who could never imagine drinking their coffee black, having different flavors of coffee is amazing. After being introduced to the wide array of never-ending possibilities that coffee offers, tea has just been kind of bland to me lately. While the coffee taste can sometimes be unpleasant, its still stronger and more flavorful than just tea. When I wake up in the mornings, I want something flavorful to wake me up. Overall, I love both. But if I had to pick between the two, I would have to go for coffee. Maybe I'm cliché, but I need my daily coffee to function.
