10 Coffee Shops In Minneapolis You'll Instantly Fall In Love With

Minnesota may be the land of 10,000 lakes, but I like to think of it as the land of 10,000 coffee shops. In Minneapolis, it seems as though you can find a different coffee shop around every corner. The city has its fair share of Caribous and Starbucks', of which no city is complete without, but if you're looking to change it up a bit, the city has you covered. Even if you're a hardcore Starbucks lover, I guarantee you won't feel like you're betraying the queen of coffee when you fall in love with these 10 coffee shops in Minneapolis.

1. Spyhouse Coffee

With four locations in the Minneapolis area, Spyhouse’s passion is to source, roast, brew and serve the customer an exceptional coffee while educating them on the process from origin to consumption.

3. Vicinity Coffee

To ensure you get the freshest beans around, Vicinity Coffee roasts their coffee locally and in small batches. They’ve been cultivating community through specialty coffee in two locations since 2011.

5. UP Coffee Roasters

The name of this coffee shop is more than what meets the eye. The UP name challenges everyone to move on, go forward, think bigger and wake up. UP ultimately aims to bring real value to those they serve every day through the common link of coffee.

If you’re looking for a delicious pastry to go with your morning coffee, then Isles Bun & Coffee is the place for you. All of their goodies are made from scratch with fresh ingredients on the daily. Getcha hot buns and rolls here, sugar!

7. Five Watt Coffee

This coffee shop roasts and serves their own coffee, and is designed to meet everyone’s coffee needs. The founders are two energetic coffee-enthusiasts, unicorn hoarders, high-fivers and music geeks. They want to make your coffee, and if that’s not reason enough to go, they claim to have the best Wi-Fi in town.

8. Peace Coffee

Peace Coffee was born out of late-night conversations between their parent organization and a group of Mexican farmers. They have two Minneapolis locations and are eager to continue coffee's centuries-old tradition as a centerpiece of conversation and community.

9. Caffetto Coffee House

While serving up specialty coffee, tea and food, Caffetto Coffee House features rotating exhibits from local artists. Go to sip coffee and work, or wander upstairs to play board games or downstairs to play pinball and ping pong.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
