Whether you’re looking to study alone or grab some coffee with friends, these are great options!

Arcadia Café

“A chill place for espresso drinks, pour-overs & teas”

This café is located in campus town, and it’s a cute little shop that is perfect for when you and your friends want to go somewhere to chill and talk for hours.

Café Milo

“Chic coffee shop offering artisanal coffee & tea, along with free wi-fi & gourmet light bites”

This coffee shop is adorable! I’ve been there, and they have SO MANY drink choices its almost overwhelming (in the best way). If you want a good cup of tea, this place is highly recommended.

Vinyl Café

“Great Coffee, music, records, and service”

Located in downtown Ames, this small café doubles as a record store. If you are a music junkie (like me), this is the best place to go and get some homework done and enjoy one of the café’s original beverages.

Stomping Grounds

“Much more than a ‘coffee shop’”

Stomping Grounds not only has amazing coffee, but also has the best breakfast food I’ve ever eaten. Although it’s a little pricey, its definitely worth the money!

Morning Bell Coffee Roasters

“Coffee, quiet, cozy”

This is the perfect coffee shop for when you need a quiet space to do homework!

Like I said, whether you are in need of social time with your friends or study time alone, these are the best places for both of those needs.

The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Disney Princesses

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
