8 Coffee Hacks For The Struggling College Student

Whether the day is just beginning with assignments piled high or the night is extending to the wee hours of the morning with an exam approaching, coffee is a great tool to keep college students everywhere going. It's easy to each up spending at coffee shops, but there are some great ways to get that unique taste on a budget! Here are some tips to use what you already, instead of spending a fortune.

1. Homemade Coffee Syrup

Coffee syrup is used at every coffee place, and now, you can make your own to save a little bit! Start by heating 2 cups of water and stirring in two cups of sugar. Once the sugar is dissolved, you can add in vanilla extract, caramel, mashed berries, or any combination you choose to create your own flavor of syrup!

2. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a great, healthier alternative to sugar when it comes to sweetening your coffee!

3. Homemade Creamer

For fresh creamer, you can add vanilla or almond flavoring into milk! This is healthier than most types of creamer, and it will typically last longer.

4. Coconut Milk

Another healthier alternative to creamer is canned coconut milk!

5. Bitter Coffee

If you add salt to your coffee, it will get rid of the bitter taste by blocking the taste buds that detect it!

6. Baking

You can substitute coffee in for water in cookie or brownie recipes for an unconventional dessert with a kick to it!

7. Caffeine

The caffeine in coffee can make you dehydrated so it’s key to drink a lot of water throughout the day!

8. Timing

Throughout the day, coffee is most effective when it’s working with your body. For more consistent energy levels, the best times to drink coffee are between 9 AM and noon or between 1 PM and 5:30 PM!

With these tips, your coffee will taste like its made by a professional! It's easy to make this happen with things you probably already have hiding in the kitchen. With the right timing and water consumption throughout the day, coffee can be much more effective and you can work to prevent the dreaded afternoon caffeine drop. So, without further ado, cheers!

I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
