So, you're already running out of funds on that pre-paid Starbucks giftcard your grandmother blessedly bestowed upon you before returning to school, or you've desperately settled that cafeteria coffee just isn't cutting it anymore (did it really ever 'cut it' to begin with?). Plain drip coffee is boring, but you don't have time to whip up some extensive specialty drink in the 15 minute window of precious sleep and walking-to-class time you've allowed yourself. Fret not loyal patrons of the life-giving coffee, caffiene nectar of gods, the working class, and seriously sleep-deprived student. There is hope for you yet.

Invest in a Chemex or French press

Let's be real- the allure of Keurigs is fun and convenient. Anyone can pick the flavor they want for a single beverage. The coffee isn't fresh, and they certainly aren't eco-friendly. Plus, they tend towards an often watered down flavor. Invest in a Chemex brewer (the glass test tube-looking thing) or a French Press (the steampunk gadget-looking one). These methods are wonderful ways of making sure the base of your coffee drink is a quality one. Extra points for the hipness.

If brewing in drip coffee maker, sprinkle a bit of cinnamon or add in a few cloves atop the grounds for added flavor.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
