If you ask anyone who knows me anything about myself, one of the first things they will tell you is that I love coffee, a lot. I am always the first person to suggest a Starbucks run or offering to make a pot of Joe. I have been to most local coffee shops in my city and you can almost always find me in the Starbucks near my campus either with friends or enjoying some me time. Being a coffee drinker come with a unique set of challenges, namely, people judge you hardcore! Those who do not partake in this elixir of the gods simply do not understand. Here are some of the things coffee drinkers hear way too often:

1. You actually drink your coffee black?

Yes, don’t you? A wise man once told me that you are not a real coffee drinker until you drink your coffee black. I’m am very proud to say that I have successfully risen to this rank of coffee expert.

2. Coffee stunts your growth.

Thanks, but I’m 20 years old and 5’8, I think I’ll risk it.

3. Oh yeah, I love coffee (pours in 2 cups of creamer and 72 sugar packets).

Ummm I think you mean you mean sugar, you love sugar.

4. All that caffeine is really bad for you.

Actually drinking one or two cups of coffee everyday does not really have much of an impact of your health, I have googled it before. Plus, it is far safer for everyone that I have my daily dose of caffeine, trust me.

5. You’re addicted to coffee!

I think you are being a *tad* dramatic here, buddy. I can stop anytime I want, I just do not want to.

6. Coffee breath is the worst!

Okay, you got me there. It truly is the worst, but nothing a piece of gum cannot fix!

7. Starbucks is so overrated.

YOU SHUT YOUR BLASPHEMOUS MOUTH! I do not need this in my life right now. Sure Starbucks is not my favorite coffee place, but I am always pleased with what I get there. They consistently deliver good coffee and are always there when I need them!

8. Do you realize how much money you’re spending on coffee?

Yes, yes I do. However, I do not spend money on a lot of other things and it is my decision on how I want to splurge on myself. When I spend money on coffee a majority of the time I am with a friend enjoying their company, so to me it is worth the money!

So to all my fellow coffee-drinkers, be proud of who are and do not let the non-drinkers get you down. Order another round of espresso shots!

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
