All around campus, trash cans are overfilled with Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts coffee cups. Red Bulls and Monsters are student's best friend. Classmates look like they got out of bed 5 minutes ago. There are only a few weeks left before winter break, and for all college students... exams, practicals, assignments, homework, essays and gosh knows what else is literally going through our minds at the moment. That paper that was probably weeks away it's finally arrived or studying for an exam you put off weeks from now is finally here and you have no idea what the chapters are even about. Forget holiday season, it's make it or break it season for us college students. Winter break doesn't start until the very last exam has been completed and turned in, then and only then... You can take a break from all that stress.
It's no joke that we college students have the most stress on our shoulders. Not to mention that stress is bad in many ways;
1. When it comes to stress, our immune system weakens and it's so easy to get sick and stay sick when all we can think about is failing an exam. Being sick already has us in a bad mindset, and with stress on top of it, there is no way that we can get over it in a few days.
2. With stress, anxiety can often pop in our life, or being very edgy and unaware of our surroundings. Stress can make everything very difficult, clouding our judgment. It makes us forget who we are for a moment, shutting the world out.
3. Stress makes us forget the little things in life. Spending time with family or taking the time to relax or even sleeping! Most time, Time is an essence, and every minute counts.
4. Forgetting to eat or stress eating, either one is not good. Balance is key and we tend to forget that when stress is involved.
Even though the semester is almost over, and we forgot to brush our hair this morning and change our clothes from last night's studying session... take time to destress from time to time. Your mental, emotional and physical self will thank you for it and so will your grades. Take a break and hit the gym. take a walk, eat some food, and breathe!
