10 Reasons Coconut Oil Just Became Your New Best Friend

In This Article:

Cold weather is coming and we all know this is the jolly time when skin starts to dry up like a raisin. Lips are crusty, skin cracks and burns. Lotion refuses to work. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I have been using coconut oil for six months and have researched and discovered for myself some impeccable qualities it possesses. There is much more to coconut oil than being a skin moisturizer.

Here are 10 ways coconut oil has helped me:

Coconut oil helps weight loss

All those ridiculous diets could have been avoided by ingesting coconut oil instead. If only I had known sooner for the sake of my close relationship with chocolate!

It's an antibacterial and antifungal

Any health freaks out there like me? Coconut oil kills bacteria whether it be on your face—yes, I mean acne—or on cuts and wounds. The anti-fungal is a major plus. No more warts and no more fungus! Say goodbye to athlete's foot my people.

Gym time equals coconut time

I have been trying to gain muscle mass for years. Then I read that coconut oil, when ingested, helps with gaining muscle. Time to get my results and make the gym worth my time!

Helps prevent Alzheimer's or bring memories back

If you know someone with Alzheimer's like me, this is interesting news for you. With the seriousness of Alzheimer's, anything is worth a try to bring a loved one back to reality.

Good for the Heart and other organs

Let's keep things working inside. Coconut oil makes things run smoothly—no pun intended.

 Great for skin and hair

I struggled with acne all my life, going through plenty of medications. The natural antibacterial properties and hydration made my acne go away. Not to mention the smoothness of my skin and hair.

Improves digestions

Honestly, we all struggle with digestion sometimes and it is not fun.

Good for oral health

Who would have thought that coconut oil is the ultimate tooth paste?

Helps balance hormones

Ladies, we relate to this on a personal level. When my hormones are off balance, I am the worst person to be around. Coconut oil helps balance those hormones that make you cry for no reason and give you acne for no reason!

No more chapped lips!

I have always had a problem with chapped lips. No matter how much chap stick I layer on, the results are still dry. With the cold weather approaching, it will only get worse. Coconut oil is the only product that has been able to relieve my chapped lips!

When in doubt, I am sure there is something coconut oil can do. Maybe it's not for you, but it might work for a friend! It definitely worked for me.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
