The new semester is here along with a lot of homework and studying. Even though you're busy with classes, I'm sure that you sometimes feel like something is missing. Maybe you spend your weekends at home or out at the bar, doing the same thing over and over. Maybe you've been looking for something more constructive to do with your free time, and the clubs offered at Auburn are the perfect solution for you. Auburn's size elicits more than a big sports scene - we have extracurriculars that run the gamut from building race cars to designing costumes for anime conventions.

Regardless of how peculiar your interests are, there is a club at Auburn for you that will provide a sense of community and belonging that is usually missing on such a large campus.

1. Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy Club

This is a group designed to guide, update, and encourage students planning to pursue a career in physical therapy or occupational therapy.

2. Cosplayer's Association at Auburn

This an inclusive group of fans looking to creatively express their interests through the creation and design of costumes, props and accessories. All skill levels are welcome!

3. Art of Living Yoga Club

Yoga is a holistic way of energizing and integrating your mind, body and spirit. The practice of yoga has been known for centuries to produce benefits in the areas of health and mental clarity.

4. Badminton Club

To provide an opportunity to experience badminton on Auburn University Campus, to improve your playing skills and to meet people who play badminton at Auburn.

5. Baja Sae

Baja SAE designs, builds, tests, and then races a Baja car each school year. We accept new members throughout the year and it is a great way to gain design and shop experience for Engineering majors, but all majors are welcome.

6. Button Mashers Anonymous

The purpose of BMA is to provide a social outlet for Auburn University students by facilitating console gaming events.

7. Climbing Club

This organization exists to facilitate competitive climbing. We want to remove barriers that prevent Auburn students from competing in competitions around the southeast.

8. Cooking and Baking Club

If you love food and would like to meet more people with your same interest this is the place for you!

9. El Club Español

We hope to offer a community-building, inclusive, and culturally aware space where those interested in the Spanish language, along with its unique and diverse populations, have an opportunity to practice conversation skills and grow in the language.

10. Formula SAE Racing Team

Auburn Formula SAE designs, builds, and races under the sanctioned body of SAE International. The team is open to all majors. AUFSAE is completely operated by students with a faculty advisor to oversee finances & design decisions.

11. Horticulture Club

We combine community, service, and horticulture. Join to learn and participate in fruit, vegetable, and ornamental plant production while serving the community.

12. International Buddy Program

This program provides a way for international and local students to form meaningful same-gender friendships with one another and facilitates smooth transitions into student life in Auburn.

13. Knights of Auburn

The purpose of the Knights of Auburn is to enhance the appreciation of jazz music among students at Auburn University.

14. Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program at Auburn works with young students in the Auburn area to develop personal relationships that will be beneficial to both the mentor and the youth. Our goal is to encourage leadership and growth in these young students lives.

15. Nerdfighters

We are a group of students who enjoy pop culture and nerd culture while trying to make the world a better place through friends and service.

16. Outdoor Adventure Club

"Explore. Dream. Discover." -Mark Twain Make lasting friendships & memories while having fun outdoors! Whether you're into snowboarding, rock climbing, Zorbing, or whitewater rafting, the OAC has something for everyone!

17. Auburn Recovery Community

Auburn Recovery Community (ARC) provides fellowship and support for people in recovery and people supportive of recovery.

18. Quiz Bowl

We're college students who get together and compete against other universities across the country. Any Auburn student of any major is welcome to attend a meeting and compete with us!

19. Sailing Club

The Sailing Club believes in a sound mind, in a sound body, and a spirit that is not afraid, and develops these qualities by competing in intercollegiate regattas and cruising at Lake Martin. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

20. Spectrum

The goal of Spectrum: Auburn University's Gay-Straight Alliance, otherwise known as Spectrum, is to promote mutually supportive relationships among all students in the interest of advancing campus and community diversity.

21. Swing Dance Association

AUSDA offers free swing dance lessons every Friday night! There is always a beginner lesson, so you can start anytime. No partner required.

22. Table Tennis Club

Our mission is to promote the sport of table tennis in the Auburn University community. We also have a team that competes in regional and national tournaments sponsored by the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association.

23. WEGL 91.1

WEGL 91.1 FM is Auburn University's student-run radio station. Our DJ's are comprised of AU students, faculty and staff. We promote VARIETY, not only in the genres of music we play, but also in the wide range of shows we air.

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
