I am sure by now you have all heard about the clowns wandering around different states instilling fear into many, with cryptic threats of death, and causing two schools in south Alabama to go on lockdown. These clowns even have a Facebook page where they like to post threatening comments about where they will be next and to watch out because "it's going down tonight". Well, apparently in Troy it was supposed to go down Saturday night. Two clowns around midday posted a video about how they were coming to Troy, which immediately instilled fear in most, however for some all the announcement did was spark questions about why they are doing this. So here are five questions we would all like to ask these clowns:
1. Were you allowed to celebrate Halloween as a child?
In many families, children were not allowed to celebrate Halloween because some parents saw it as a night of worshiping the devil versus walking around and getting free candy. So, obviously, this dressing like a clown matter has to be the backlash a deprived childhood. They just wanted to be like the rest of us. We all are trying to prove to our parents we are adults and can do what we want. The only difference is that these kids dress up like clowns and threaten other peoples lives... seems like a logical response to a lack of candy in their childhood, right?
2. How many times have you watched "The Purge?"
I know everyone hates it when people blame the media for desensitizing the public. However, these clowns could be copied and pasted into any of the three "Purge" movies (especially next to the creepy guy from the second movie that has "GOD" written across his forehead). Is this the clown's favorite movie ever, how many times have they seen it for a person's perception of reality to get this warped, do you know that not all crime is legal and you can and will be arrested if you harm someone?
3. What was the point of your video?
Ah... the video. What was the point of this! No one could understand what the clowns were even saying because their voices were muffled. Some people even found the video to be a joke because one of the clowns phones kept buzzing in the background, being quite a distraction. Why was the phone buzzing, though? Were the clowns being texted by other clowns to come hang out or were their mothers texting them to be safe out there because there are clowns wandering the streets.
4. What's hidden behind the mask?
A lot of people have self image issues and it is not okay to feel like they have to wear a clown mask because of their looks. These clowns obviously have a lot of angst, but should work on telling themselves and each other that they are beautiful without the clown mask. I mean we all know the story of the "Phantom of the Opera;" the longer a person hides under a mask the worse it will get (even if you have a great singing voice). Seriously, eventually if the clowns really hurt someone they are most likely to be arrested so what's with the need to cover their face. If anything, covering their face with a clown mask makes these guys (or gals) more recognizable.. unless they are at a circus, which could be the their day job.
5. Why Troy?
This is the biggest question of them all! One would think these clowns would research where they are about to go, but obviously not. Here in Troy we have a Walmart, two Waffle Houses, a Huddle House, and three other medium sized restaurants. We don't even have our Publix completely built yet! What is there to terrorize? Why would anyone want to terrorize us? Also, we are in the south. A great majority of the people here have a concealed weapons license and/or have a gun still in their car from hunting on a previous day. In the clowns' video they kindly showed us that they brought a knife; these clowns literally brought a knife to a gun fight.
Just remember folks: clowns are just people, who wear masks from CVS. 'Tis the season of Halloween after all.
