These Clowns better stop clowning around. All jokes aside “clown sightings” have been making their way through multiple states, enticing fear from children and adults. If you type 'Clown Sightings' into google there are about a dozen reports and stories just from the last 48 hours.
As if we needed another reason to hate clowns, besides their creepy makeup and costumes, we can add ‘dangerous’ and possibly even ‘killer’ onto that list.
Since about August of this year there have been numerous spottings of clowns lurking around. These Clowns are thought to be dangerous, and police have taken notice, urging people to report sightings immediately. These sightings aren't in one specific area either, there have been reports from various states all the way from the Carolinas to past Pennsylvania. Some of these “Clown Sightings” are nearby neighborhoods full of children and towns while others are on college campuses, like York college of Pennsylvania, a couple days ago. While police and administration warn students to call 911 if a sighting occurs and to avoid walking alone at night, the sense of unease continues to rise.
It is possible that some of these “clown sightings” have been pranks since no clowns have been caught but it's not a laughing matter. It must be someone's idea of a sick joke to prey on peoples' fears, but since Halloween is just a couple weeks away, these sightings beg to question if haunted attractions will be open or not.
These sightings in Greenville County, South Carolina have spread beyond the state's borders in just a few weeks time and the clowns seem be getting bolder, and making more frequent appearances. Some children have reportedly been approached by these Clowns who attempted to bribe the children to go with them with money or candy.
However, last weekend a teenager was fatally stabbed by someone wearing a clown mask in Reading. In another area, a school district has begun to increase their students safety measures, like how Donegal Intermediate School bumped up the schools number of administration at dismal time just a couple days ago.
This Halloween season has begun to get even more creepy thanks to these “Clown Sightings”.
