The Real Reason I Hate Shopping

Clothing stores aren't making it any easier to buy clothes that fit.

My whole life, I was never this super skinny person. I never wore shirts smaller than a medium, except maybe when I was really young. I've always had a little meat on my arms or thighs, or a small chubby stomach, even if it wasn't really much. I wasn't a fan of walking around in shorts for too long, and I didn't wear a bikini to the pool until I was in seventh grade.

Even when I did, I was never fully confident in how I looked in them. As I got older, and my body started changing, so did my clothing size. I have never been able to borrow my friend's clothes because they were always too small.

For a while, buying clothes was mostly a struggle of finding things I was comfortable in. It was never about trying to find something necessarily that fit.

But that eventually changed.

During my senior year of high school, I had hit a certain point in my weight that I was not exactly proud of. I wasn't as active due to the fact that I wasn't able to swim anymore, and I wasn't much a gym person so I didn't do anything to really maintain my weight. For a while, it was a hit or miss when it came to shopping.

But there came a point when I could no longer shop at stores I liked because they just didn't have my size. I always just assumed that it was because my size went quickly, but as I began trying to buy stuff online, I realized just how many stores didn't carry above a size 15.

This was incredibly shocking considering that was the average size of the American woman. I also became irritated with this because I was just one size up from that. Unfortunately for me, my size only got bigger and my options became even more limited.

I thought things started to look up when I saw that Charlotte Russe now had plus size clothing. I looked at all the cute things they had and couldn't wait to get there. Only I was met with disappointment when I got there and was told those sizes were only available online. I was pissed. It made no sense to me.

Now, there are tons of clothing stores that are the exact same way where plus size clothing is only available through online order. For the most part, it's not the big department stores like Kohls or Old Navy. It's like trendy places like Windsor and Charlotte Russe (before they announced their closing) like I mentioned. Although, the popular Target falls victim to this when it comes to their swimsuits.

But now? I'm sick of this.

For years, I have dreaded going shopping because almost every time I never left with anything. Or if I did, I was having to settle. I have to go to multiple different stores to even find one that carries the size I need.

Not online, but physically in their store. And lately, I've been really fed up with this. I cannot wrap my head around as to why they don't just put the clothes on the rack. Online shopping is such an inconvenience, especially when not every store's sizing runs the same way. We can't try something on before we spend money on it.

Then we have to wait for god knows how long for it to actually arrive, only for it to possibly not even fit and we have to send it back! They have no problem doing both for the sizes smaller than them so what's their problem?

So, at the end of the day, I've come to this conclusion. I don't care how cute your clothes are. If you're able to sell it online, you're able to have it in your store. So just save me, and many others, some time and just do it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
