Your Clique And The Women Of 'Sex And The City'

Are you the Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda of your friend group?

Your Clique And The Women Of 'Sex And The City'

Your clique is different from everyone else’s clique, yet all cliques are the same. Every friend group is made up of different personalities, and that’s what makes it work, right? Each person has a very important niche within the clique, which makes it the perfect. Without one person it just wouldn’t work. We can all agree that everyone’s clique resembles the four women from "Sex and the City." Within everyone’s clique, there is a Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda of the friend group.

Carrie Bradshaw:

Carrie Bradshaw is the queen bee of the clique. She has an eye for fashion and her closet is largest room in her apartment. She is a tad dramatic with a positive outlook on life and one of the strongest backbones of the group. She tends to defy the norms of a traditional woman by holding off on marriage. Although she portrays a strong independent woman, she is a sucker for old-fashioned love. Between reading love poems and falling for Big’s romantic side, she believes in the traditional roles of men and women in relationships.

Samantha Jones:

Samantha Jones is the more self-absorbed person in the friend group. She has a slight obsession with Botox and looking perfect. She has a carefree attitude and is not afraid to say what is on her mind. Between her successful career and ability to objectify men, Samantha is the most independent woman of the clique. She is not dependent on men and can support herself. Her ideal relationship is more about the physical aspect rather than the emotional.

Charlotte York:

Charlotte York is the soft-spoken friend of the group, but when crossed, she gets fired up. Her girlfriends always come first. Charlotte filters what comes out of her mouth because she is concerned with upholding her perfect image of a polished, respectable feminine woman. When it comes to the "happily ever after" Charlotte has it. Between her loving husband and adorable children she seemed to have followed the traditional norms for women.

Miranda Hobbes:

Miranda Hobbes is a skeptic; she is the most logical and rational friend of the clique. She plays the mom role in the group because of her devoted, rule-follower attitude. She is honest in every situation and her friends appreciate that about her. Miranda has a strict sense of drive for her occupation and sometimes that comes before her friends and family. She struggles with balance in her life. Although she tries to be an independent woman, she accepts that she needs a man in her life.

All these characters are independent and intelligent in their own way. Without one another, it would be nearly impossible for the clique to work. Similar to our friend groups in real life, they work off each other. As Samantha says, "It's the blind leading the blind." We may not all know everything about life, but we are who we are because of one another.

Personally I would like to consider myself a mix between Carrie and Samantha, but all the cheesy web quizzes consider me a Miranda Hobbes. Like I said, there's always a Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda of the group. Which one are you?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
