3 Liberal Reasons Why Hillary Clinton Is No Angel
TIME Magazine

“Constantly choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil.”-Jerry Garcia

In what has to be one of the weirdest presidential races in US history, voters are again tasked with choosing the lesser evil. As someone who will miss the minimum age requirement, I'm not sure whether I’m grateful that this decision is out of my hands or terrified for the results. Although this article will elicit the usual cries of “Do you want trump to win!!”, it’s important to realize that painting Hillary Clinton as flawless serves only to lock in the status quo and silence dissent. And while I realize that Donald Trump can be criticized for many of these same problems, that is not a reason to discount the criticism of Clinton.

1.She supported the violent coup in Honduras.

Prior to a 2009 Coup removing the democratically elected president Manuel Zelaya, Zelaya passed a large amount of left-wing policies, such as raising the minimum wage and providing pensions for the elderly, which troubled the countries wealthy citizens and military elites. The coup was led by Honduran General Romeo Vásquez Velásquez and was regarded by most international observers as an unconstitutional military coup. Therein lies the problem. Under US law, when a democratically elected government undergoes such a coup, the US must cease providing aid. Clinton both refused to deny aid but also refused to recognize the coup. She admits in her book, “I spoke with my counterparts around the hemisphere, including Secretary Espinosa in Mexico. We strategized on a plan to restore order in Honduras and ensure that free and fair elections could be held quickly and legitimately, which would render the question of Zelaya moot.” The worst part? As a result of the coup, violence in Honduras has skyrocketed resulting in tens of thousands of refugees fleeing their homes, which the US refuses to help.

2. She supports LGBT rights ONLY when it fits her causes.

One of the biggest criticisms of Clintons past comes from her failure to support marriage equality during her earlier campaigns. It all starts with The Defense of Marriage Act, signed by Bill Clinton, that denied same-sex couples from being recognized as married partners. Hillary Clinton said during her Senate run in 2000 that she would have signed the law, and again in 2003 that she was not willing to reverse her position. It's also interesting how her position only changed recently when support of same-sex marriage became an unwritten requirement to run on the democratic ticket.

In regards to the continuous appropriation of queer liberation strategies, I’ll be honest, I don’t think I can put it any better than Alok Vaid-Menon did in their poem “WHEN BROWN LOOKS IN THE MIRROR AND COMES OUT WHITE”

3. A Long and I mean LONG history of Anti-black racism.

An official Hillary Clinton tweet in which she put Rosa Parks, BACK in the back of the bus.

This started quite a way back, and honestly probably goes back farther than I will. When Bill Clinton ran for president, a large part of his platform was his “tough on crime” attitude which eventually led to the passing of the 1994 crime bill, putting more cops on the street and setting aside more federal money to build prisons. So let’s go back to some basic math here, A racist system*cops*prison=high proportions of minorities in prison. So if we take that and add more cops and more people in prison, we get, you guessed it, an even larger amount of minority groups in prison. And yes, I know these were all Bill Clinton’s Policies but Hillary adamantly supported them to the extent that she aligned herself with those same policies during her 2008 election run and New York senate platform. And let’s not forget when she straight up called black youth “super predators” and then said they needed to be brought to heel. Before you all think I’m some heartless monster , I do think people can change but I have yet to see any substantial changes to Clinton's platform. The most basic of actions is literally to do nothing, and yet when faced with silenced groups attempting to voice concerns Hillary couldn't even manage that. I am, of course, talking about the
multiple times that the Clinton Campaign has clashed with Black Lives Matter protesters.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
