Clint Maedgen Hits big with his single “Sookie Sookie, Nookie Nookie.”

Mardi Gras season is once again within our grasp here in New Orleans. The joy of the parades, balls, food, drink, and most notably, the late night concerts.

Mardi Gras is a tradition deeply rooted in eclectic culture, spanning back many decades, that brings smiles, music, and dance to the souls of thousands. It’s unique groove and vibe can be found only within the blood of Louisiana musicians.

No one does it in such a vast array of pushing the envelope than that of Clint Maedgen.

Raised in South LA, Maedgen traveled much of his youth, and studied with innovator, Alvin Baptiste.

His catalog spans genres and breaks boundaries; from his fusion noize ensemble “Liquidrone,” the Cabaret variety and rock multimedia superstars, “The New Orleans Bingo! Show,” his roots of saxophone and crooning vocals with the legendary “Preservation Hall Jazz Band,” to the electro-folk songwriting style of his solo work. Maedgen has literally traveled the world with his own carnival of sound, bringing to mind such influences such as: Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Beck, Soundgarden, Fats Domino, The Meters, The Smiths, Conway Twitty, and David Bowie, just to name a few.

2023 is the Mardi Gras year that will get you dancing and swinging to Clint’s latest single, “Sookie Sookie, Nookie Nookie,” a New Orleans style, catchy, boogie-woogie track that is sure to reach the top of the dance charts - no matter where you live. The funk and R&B production, and some instrumentation is captured by Clint’s fellow Preservation Hall band mate, Kyle Roussel.

Roussel, a modern day innovator in New Orleans music, began playing the piano at age nine. He is a graduate of the famed New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, and the University of New Orleans.

Maedgen and Roussel’s worlds collide in the new single, including in the tracks, “Living,” a gospel machine and rhythm powerhouse that is sure to shake the foundations of any club house, and “Time,” a beautiful landscape of electro jazz, highlighting the perfection of Maedgen’s cunning singing and songwriting.

When asked about his recent collaboration with his fellow band mate, Clint had the following to say:

“Working with Kyle is next level because he is at least three different amazing things at once: Producer, vocal director, and of course, one of the greatest piano players I’ve ever heard. He brought these songs to life, and I could not be more excited. 💥😌.”

The single “Sookie Sookie, Nookie Nookie” is available on all streaming platforms. Be sure to visit Clint’s website, www.cmradiotv.com for links to all of his musical endeavors, as well as his critically acclaimed photography and artwork. Here you can also join his weekly, online Patreon Panda Family - a true must for any fan!

Both Clint and Kyle will be performing with the “Preservation Hall Jazz Band” on February 3rd, at Tipitinas in Uptown New Orleans.

So what are you waiting for? Get your costume, King Cake, and lets dance until ash Wednesday with, “Sookie Sookie, Nookie Nookie.”

I am Ryan McKern, and I will see you at the dance floor this carnival season.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.

15 Things That Happen On Your Birthday

Do you have a small get-together or throw a big bash?

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
