Clifford the Big Red Pain in the Neck

Lousy, expensive dog.

I know, I know. Finally an article we all find important. Finally an article about Clifford the Big Red Dog.

So, Clifford grew to that ridiculous size because his owner loved him so much. On many occasions, this thought is enough to make me cry tears of joy. I mean that much deep love for your pet is incredible and it should be given to all of the animals in the world, but then we would have to accept our spot on the bottom of the food chain and I live in fear already.

One day I was expressing how Clifford got to his gargantuan size to one of my very good friends up at college, and she brought a very important thought to my attention. "Clifford is large due to the love his owner has for him. Now think about her parents"

If anyone ever wondered how easy it was to crush my spirit, all it takes is one sentence. Her parents are just normal human sized! One day they bring home this fluffy red dog and she decides, yeah I'm going to like you so much more. Now, this is easy thinking about how wonderful most dogs are. I must put in that own a dog, but I can't say I love him so much that all my love is going into him and making him a ridiculous size but, also we now have to take into consideration the changes the family had to make on their house when Clifford grew. He lives in their garage! If his owner has this special love, she could love the garage and make it grow, but there is no proof to say that is what happened. Probability says she probably made her parents pay to redo the garage so Clifford had a place to reside when it rains. Lousy good for nothing girl. Also how much money do you think goes into feeding that dog? Luckily, someone else did the math before I had to. Popular blogger gregdyounger states "Clifford is approximately 15 times the size of the regular dog (30’/2). Labs tend to eat 4 cups of food a day, once again multiplying this by 15, that’s 60 cups a food a day". He eventually comes to the conclusion that food in total for Clifford would come out to $3,500 per year. Grooming Clifford could come out to $750 per wash and I do not want to even go into what their water bill must be.

This family must either be insanely rich, and I'm talking money flying out of their ear holes rich, or in very deep denial. Either way, what will they do when our loving owner heads off to college? Will they have to take out loans because their Big Read Headache ate all of the funds, or are they well enough off? All I know is, this dog must be way more work than he is worth.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
