25 Ways To Make The Most Of Summer 2016

Its the first week of June, but there is good news. The first actual day of summer hasn't hit us yet. That means you still have a good two months to make memories, find a new adventure, and spend time doing things you can only do now.

As slow as days seem to pass, when August comes.. we will think to ourselves "where did my summer go?".

Don't find yourself heading back to school / work / life regretting not doing all the things you wanted to this summer.

Because I love ya, I thought I'd help you get a head start on a summer of no regrets.

Here are 25 ideas of how to make the most of summer 2016.
1. Go on a social media/technology fast. Just be present. Enjoy the people around you.
2. Go on a hike and camp for a few days. Embrace your inner outdoorsman.
3. Get some girls together, pack a bag, take a day trip.
4. Make a few pb&j's and have a picnic.
5. Set a summer reading schedule and follow it through
6. Make a yummy dessert... then bring me some :)
7. Take up a new hobby. Fishing is always fun.
8. Go rock climbing
9. Get a friend that is in a different state and be pen - pals. Letter writing is a great way to stay in touch and reconnect.
10. Find a friend, rent some movies and stay up all night
11. If you're feeling educational, find an internship or a place to volunteer.
12. After all the snack you'll be making and eating... maybe start a workout plan!
13. Go white-water rafting on the Ocoee.
14. Travel to all the antique stores you can find
15. Go to a baseball game. (I hear braves tickets are pretty cheap right now)
16. Start a blog or keep a journal. You'll want to remember all your adventures.
17. Change is good. Pick up a CD of a band you've never listened to or go to a concert that you've never been to.
18. Watch all of the Harry Potter movies.. in one day.
19. Go to a drive in or ride the ferris wheel in Atlanta.
20. Go to an amusement park or water park and spend the whole day
21. Google summer events in your town (movie series, discounted events, concerts etc) and go check them out. This is a great way to meet new people!!
22. Go for a drive in the middle of the night. Have a map, good tunes, and a passenger.. but don't have a plan. Just drive and enjoy where you end up. :)
23. Try new foods and restaurants. You could also check out pinterest and cook up some new recipes of your own.
24. Catch fireflies & put them in a mason jar. (make sure to poke holes in it and don't keep them for too long)
25. Find something outrageous to do.. hop on a plane and go somewhere you've never been, go cow-tipping, fall in love, go on a blind date, go geocaching or on a scavenger hunt...

Whatever you decide to do with your summer, make sure you live well. Its only two months ya know? Then reality hits and school starts back and you will look back and wish you had this time again.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
