“A SWING AND A DRIVE, DEEP LEFT FIELD, AWAY BACK, GONE.” If you are from Cleveland, you know who says that, and without a doubt, you know what time it is! Yes Tribe fans, it is time to get your ball caps out because it is baseball season again. It is Tribe Time!
I'm pretty sure everyone in the universe knows what happened last season and boy what a season it was for the city of Cleveland. Not only did we witness a Championship from the Cavaliers, but we almost witnessed a second Championship from the Cleveland Indians. The Indians did so many great things last season. Winning the AL Central, sweeping the Boston Red Sox in the ALDS, and defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS to reach the World Series for the first time since 1997. Some of us remember those great times in the 90’s at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario. Unfortunately, the Tribe was just one game short of winning that World Series that they have been tasting since 1948. Yes, we applaud what the Indians have done last season, but that was last season. The new season starts now!
This season, the Indians must feel really confident with who they have on their roster. They were without Michael Brantley for most of the last season and hope to have him healthy. They will have many games with possibly the best reliever in baseball in Andrew Miller. We all know when it’s Miller time, it’s "Miller Lites Out." The Indians have one of the best starting rotations in baseball with Corey Kluber leading them. Kluber came close to a second Cy Young Award. On top of all that, the Indians added a piece to their puzzle that they desperately need, a power hitter in Edwin Encarnacion.
So, what can we do to make sure this season is another success? The number one thing is us, the fans. The fans need to go see this team. I have to admit, attendance last season was not one of our strong suits. The Cleveland Indians had the 3rd worst attendance in the American League last season. For a team who ended the season at the top of the American League, that needs to change! I encourage all Indians fans to go to a game at least once or twice this season. Yes, the ticket prices will most likely increase which seems to happen every season, but our team is worth the price. You are more likely to see a winning team than a losing team.
Baseball is great! It's not America's favorite past time for no reason. I mean, who doesn’t like a hot dog and ice cold beer watching a winning team like the Cleveland Indians. I am telling you, this season is going to be something. There are some high expectations for this team to do great things this season, possibly be even greater than last season. You know what I am talking about but I am not going to jinx it. So, who’s ready for some baseball?
LETS GO TRIBE! LETS GO TRIBE!
