Let me just start out by saying my Super Bowl predictions were 100% wrong, I did not have the Falcons or the Patriots making it to the Super Bowl. I had the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Green Bay Packers then the Packers taking home the trophy. I am not a Pittsburgh or Green Bay fan, but with the Browns 1-15 record and my siblings cheering for Pittsburgh and Green Bay, I naturally latched onto them being Super Bowl contenders. Secondly I did not see either of the teams getting blown out, but yet again I was wrong with the Packers losing to the Falcons 44 to 21 and the Steelers losing to the Patriots 36 to 17. I thought that these would be close games, maybe even some overtimes, but no we saw four quarters dominated by the Falcons and the Patriots. So here I am a week before Super Bowl LI with a 14-2 team and a 11-5 team facing off against each other on the biggest stage of the NFL. Considering the performances from both teams last week this has the making of an excellent competition between the two top teams for the 2016 NFL season. Let’s take a moment and see how these teams match up, since November the Falcons have not been fooling around, they have been putting big numbers up. From their 48 to 33 win over the Panthers back in October to their 42-14 win over the Rams in December. The Falcons are a team that have lost some having the least of the two records going in to the Super Bowl, but a team that has also won by large margins. My prediction is that they can and will pose a challenge for the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. Although the Patriots have played a couple high scoring games for example their 41-3 win against the New York Jets on Christmas Eve or their 33 to 13 win over the Cleveland Browns; no surprise there. The Patriots know how to hold teams. They have won some close games, showing that they can put up the points to win, but also keep the other team from closing the gap they have created between them. When they played against the Baltimore Ravens back in December, the Ravens were a touchdown away from tying the game, but in the end the Patriots came out victorious by holding the Ravens to a field goal two times in the fourth quarter and putting up the points to win. I am excited to see if we will see a close game or if one team will just dominate the Super Bowl this year. They both have the defense and offense to win, but in the end it’s all about who shows up to win. In the end I’m just there for the commercials, the stars of the Super Bowl in my opinion. I don’t mind having to get up during the game, but during the commercials I must stay seated in front of the tv. With so many companies wanting a slot during the Super Bowl they all put their best work out there. The commercials are a competition within itself, a competition of which company can impact the viewers the most during the biggest NFL game of the year. So no my predictions of who would be in this years’ Super Bowl were not correct, but nonetheless I have no doubt that we are in for a competition like no other, just hoping and praying that this will not be a blow out.
