Clemson vs. Alabama: Did Not Disappoint

Another College Football Playoff Championship has come and past, and it did not disappoint. On January 9, 2017 Clemson University and University Alabama met for the second year in a row in the NCAA Football Championship to see who would be crowned as victor of this brand new era of sports the country has entered into for the past three years. The score, 35-31, had Clemson University being able to hold up the trophy at the end. However, the 2017 Championship game meant so much more than just who was crowned victor, but represented just exactly what sports means.

A championship for College Football that was not based solely on a computer or committee deciding what teams would be considered to finish on top was a public out cry for quite some time. This public demand for playoff rounds and a championship game in college football became so prominent that for the 2014-2015 College Football season the NCAA started their very first rounds of playoffs to championship game. The first NCAA Championship had Ohio State come out on top. However, the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 college football seasons have really painted a picture as to why the demand for playoffs became so prevalent.

In the past two seasons, Clemson University and University of Alabama had met in the NCAA College Football Championship. While watching the college football season, it became clear that these two teams were two of the best. However, the importance of playoffs came to light for these two teams because if either wanted to see the championship they would first have to make it through the playoffs. By allowing for the chance for both these two power house of teams to be knocked out of the championship game due to the playoffs allowed for the excitement that sports brings to build across the country. It allowed for a team to do well throughout the season, but if it was not able to bring it’s A-game in the end, the season would mean nothing.

The 2016-2017 NCAA Championship game was no where near a let down with the excitement overloading as Clemson University scored it’s winning touchdown in the last seconds of the game. This championship game was one of a rematch for Clemson University as it had lost in the Championship to University of Alabama in the season before, and had not even been expected by many people to see the Championship game again in the 2016-2017 NCAA Football season. This example of excitement college football brings is why people demanded it, and why sports brings the hype it does to the world.

The NCAA College Football Championship brought all the excitement one would hope to see sports bring, and is why there will be more excitement and games to come.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
