A Clear Mind, A Pure Heart

Here are a few ways to clear your mind and get inspired this summer.

With no classes to attend and your friends miles away, what better time to focus on yourself than summertime. Instead of spending your summer dreading work each day or binge watching Netflix, try getting to know yourself just a little bit better.

1. Do yoga.

Try out a yoga class with a friend or family member. You will be challenged and learn so much about yourself physically, mentally and spiritually. Usually it’s nothing too intense, but it will leave you feeling energized, confident, self-aware, and maybe even a few inches taller.

2. Read.

Nothing sets your imagination running wild like a good book. Read something meaningful and thought provoking, not just another teen novel to pass the time. Reading will help you open your mind and strengthen your beliefs.

3. Listen to music.

Better than engrossing yourself in TV, music allows you to think and sparks creativity. No matter your taste, listen to the lyrics and discover what speaks to you. I think we can all agree there are certain songs that give us chills and make us feel more deeply. If you haven't experienced this then you just haven't found the right artist.

4. Go for a walk or bike ride.

Warm summer breezes paired with mild physical activity. A walk or bike ride is a great way to let your worries float away and reflect.

5. Go someplace you’ve never been before.

We all have places that inspire us and places where we go to feel safe or at peace. Try some place new next time you want to get away. Exploring can be an even better way to learn more about yourself and find what you're searching for.

6. Spend time alone in nature.

I'm a huge proponent for solidarity in God's beautiful creation. What better way to appreciate this world we have been given than to spend time away from all the distractions and just soak it in. Sit outside alone and discover your purpose in this wonderful life.
