Is your home a breeding ground for dust mites and other bacteria? Not keeping a clean home puts you and your family at risk.
You'll get sick more often and your immune system will become compromised. It'll feel like allergy season every day.
To ensure your home is as clean as it can be, here's a handy checklist on how to clean each room properly.
Check it out!
Living Room
This is where the family hangs, where pets sleep, and where kids love to play. All the time your family spends here means there's more room for error. You may not be able to clean your living room as much as you'd like since it's the prime hang out spot.
Any downtime you get where the kids are at school and the significant other is at work, use this time to clean. Start with vacuuming any carpet and mopping any hardwood floors.
Use a disinfectant spray to use on the couch and other soft surfaces like pillows.
You'll also want to make sure your air filters are clean. Not only that but your air ducts should be free of dust and debris as well. If not, you'll benefit from getting an air quality test done.
Bedrooms
Allergens and pesky dust mites easily find homes within pillows and bedsheets. They also lie within carpet and on hardwood surfaces.
That's why you'll want to make sure you mop and vacuum bedrooms as well. Afterward, you'll want to tackle other soft surfaces—bedding, drapes, and other furniture.
Make sure to put all clothes away as soon as they're washed and dried. You don't want to leave clean clothes lying about because then dust and allergens will accumulate.
Bathrooms
Mold, mildew, and dirt—oh my!
Probably the most important part of any bathroom are the exhaust fans. These hard workers make sure moisture is taken out of the air. This way, mold, and mildew can't grow.
As for tile, use a cleaner and disinfectant to make sure they're all free of germs. Wash rugs and towels regularly to avoid passing germs and allergens onto guests or other family members.
Kitchen
This is where family gathers and good meals are had. But not cleaning your kitchen properly can put your family at risk.
Clean your oven and stove so that they'll run more efficiently. That way, it'll require less power or gas to use them.
Be wary of which kinds of cleaners you use. Those with harsh chemicals can trigger asthma and irritate lungs.
Tile should be wiped down often, especially backsplash tiles. Use the exhaust as well, this will prevent grime buildup and allow pollutants from cooking to be dispelled from the air.
