Being an English major is great-- we get to read amazing books and analyze them until they just can't be analyzed anymore. Then we write super long papers about them. But, sometimes the books we read can get a little boring. Don't get me wrong-- I love reading about how delusional Gatsby is and counting how many times Holden Caulfield gets on my nerves, but sometimes I want to read something other than a "classic" novel. So here are some of my favorite books that aren't classics, but definitely need to be read by English majors:

1." The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak

2. "Eragon" by Christopher Paolini

3. The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

4. "The Golden Compass" by Philip Pullman

5. "Nevernight" by Jay Kristoff

6. "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin

7. "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn

8. "Me Before You" by JoJo Moyes

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
