Many people would say that food is their favorite part of Christmas festivities. Food is definitely a huge part of the way that I celebrate Christmas. From Christmas Eve dinner to Christmas day brunch, my family goes all out. Even though I enjoy every part of the meals...the desserts are usually my favorite! There are so many amazing Christmas desserts. From anything chocolate to all the peppermint flavored items, there are so many delicious options.
With all of the amazing holiday desserts available, we often forget about the classic beauty of a christmas cookie. Recently I was reminded of just how fulfilling it is to decorate a good ole cookie!
I met up with some of my best friends from high school, Maddie and Mary Brooke, while we were all home from college. We wanted to do something fun, so we decided to decorate cookies! It was very fun and so cool to see all of our creative sides coming out. Mary Brooke picked up the cookies from a bakery in town and made a few extra shapes on her own. When we got to her house the cookies were all ready for us to decorate! We made some powdered sugar icing and put it in plastic baggies. We cut holes in the corners to apply icing to the cookies, and then we added lots of fun sprinkles! The process was very simple because we did not use a bunch of colored icing. The white icing and colored sprinkles on the colored cookies made for a really pretty appearance!
Not only did the cookies turn out super cute, but they also tasted really good! We enjoyed ourselves so much making the cookies, and especially eating the icing. The simple cookies were able to bring us so much joy!
Making Christmas cookies is a great activity to do with friends or family this holiday season. I hope that even as other desserts become a big focus at Christmas, we don't forget about the simple joy of classic Christmas cookies!
