I have refused to stand for the star spangled
In the land where my freedom
Has been star strangled
All this red pouring out
My innocent brothers
And sisters
In a sea of White privilege
Ignorance and
Word Twisters
The fear of the blue
That inevitably spread
“Please don’t shoot”
Another one dead
This red white and blue
Is one that we see
Waving above those
Who aren’t free
Liberty and justice
Allegedly always served
Unless
Your suit of blue
Is conveniently observed
You receive compensation
For a life that is gone
Paid by the nation
For the weapon you’ve drawn
The star spangled banner
Has its meaning to you
But tell me what I am to do
When it billows high above the sky
Meanwhile freedom is strangled
And we continue to die
I refuse to stand for the star spangled
In the land where
My freedom and justice
Is star strangled.
