I like to stand
in the middle of a road
when night meets day,
where the street lights glimmer
and reflect off of the streets
glazed with rainwater.
It is here
where I feel like life stops
for just a moment.
When I can only pay attention
to the colors,
the so many brilliant colors
that bleed across the ground
and reach for my shoes.
It is here
where I feel like dancing
reaching my hands up to the sky
so that I can feel its beauty course
through my veins.
It's all I can hope for,
to fill my veins with the power
of night and morning
so that I may run wild in the streets
for just one moment.
It is then
that I remember those
who I love
and it grounds me,
brings me back to earth.
I am not sad though,
for it was only a moment where
I could run wild and free
and the thought of returning
to those that I love
is something that
comforts me more
than the wet city streets.
