Two of the biggest bands out right now are Citizen from Toledo, Ohio and Turnover from Virginia Beach, VA. Both bands have toured with each other countless amounts of times and put out a split EP together. Both of these bands started out as pop punk bands and have transitioned into more of a dream pop/shoegaze sound with very spacey sounds and soothing melodies. They both released new records last year with Turnover's "Peripheral Vision" and Citizen's "Everybody Is Going To Heaven".
Both bands pride themselves on their open mindedness and compassion on social topics and even had a donation box at their merch booth on their last tour to help fund Planned Parenthood. They are not people to turn others away, and outside of creating amazing music, they are kind individuals. It was their kindness and acceptance that truly brought me in to be a life long fan, no matter what the sound evolves into.
By the way, both of these bands have a ton of awesome merch, perfect for holiday gifts for the significant other!! *hint hint* The vocalist from Turnover, Austin, even designs all of their merch!
