I was born and raised in Columbus, OH and that was all I knew a city to be. After traveling to more cities, as I have grown older I have learned to find the beauty everywhere and how each city contains their own special places, traditions, and people. While I still think Columbus is the best and I admit I am a die-hard Columbus resident, coming to Cincinnati has allowed me to emerge into and experience an amazing city. Being a student at UC, we are right down the street from downtown opening the gates to a concrete jungle. Cincinnati offers endless fun with a world of animals, delicious foods, and beautiful, breathtaking sites. In order to experience it all, I have made a Cincinnati bucket list. While some of these are on my own bucket list that I need to check off myself, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
For anyone young and old, the zoo is a great place to visit on a gorgeous Ohio day. With many animals to pay a visit to the zoo brings hours of fun and enjoyment. RIP Harambe.
The Newport Aquarium
Just right across the river in Newport, KY pay a visit to the animals under the sea! When the zoo isn’t the place to be on a winter day or a rainy spring day, because we all know we experience all seasons to extremes here in Ohio, the aquarium is the perfect option. It’s just a quick trip over the bridge.
Over-the-Rhine
Hungry? Spend a night out in OTR! A super trendy area with so many restaurants to choose from such as The Eagle, Taft’s Ale House, Bakersfield, or Senate Restaurant you can’t go wrong and there is something for everyone!
Findlay Market
Located in Over-the-Rhine, come see the different merchants every Monday. The market is open everyday with varying hours. Check the website to see which merchants to expect or schedule a tour of one of Cincinnati’s prized institutions.
Mount Lookout
Want to see a beauteous view of all of Cincinnati? It’s time to visit Mt. Lookout. This hotspot provides an amazing and breathtaking view of this awesome city.
Cincinnati Reds and or Bengals game
There are plenty of ways to celebrate America’s great past times by getting tickets to see a baseball game or a football game. Before the Reds season comes to an end, the Great American Ballpark welcomes you to come watch Cincinnati’s baseball team. Or just as football season is right around the corner, get tickets to see the Bengals play in Paul Brown Stadium aka The Jungle.
Skyline and Graeter’s
Two of Cincinnati’s finest. Cincinnati’s originals may not be the healthiest but they sure are delicious! I highly recommend a 3-way from Skyline and then Black Raspberry Chocolate ice cream from Greater’s is a treat that is fit for any time, any day of the week.
So take the time and enjoy the seven wonders of Cincinnati because Cincinnati is a town to enjoy, explore, and soak in. While Columbus may be my favorite place, Cincinnati is definitely up there and I could not have chosen a more perfect school in a more excellent city.
