Does vaping help you live a healthier life?

E-Cigarettes vs. Cigarettes

E-Cigarettes have become more common than ever nowadays. People are realizing that cigarettes are probably the worst thing that could happen to you other than taking Biochemistry at the University of Florida. However, people are failing to realize that e-cigarettes come with some downsides. They might not be health related, but there are still cons nonetheless. Let's look at what cigarettes do to you first.

These electronic devices are gauging interest in the general public because of the reduced health effects, such as not having chemicals realized into their system and out into the air. Smoking cigarettes not only harms the individual smoking it, but also the people in the surrounding area.

E-Cigarettes only contain four main ingredients: Vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, nicotine (if desired), and flavoring (natural and artificial). Cigarettes have been known to carry more than 4,000 chemicals per cigarette. Of the 4,000, 43 of those chemicals are known to cause cancer in humans, otherwise known as carcinogens. How else do you think the cigarette stays lit for so long without having to light it again?

Cigarettes also aren't flavorful, which is why I have a hard time understanding why people adopt the habit in the first place. I can vouch for a huge amount of people when I say that it is not something that people find socially entertaining.

Now that I have said pretty much everything you need to know about cigarettes... Let's move on to e-cigarettes. "Studies" have shown that e-cigarette users are producing formaldehyde, the main carcinogen known to humans, while using the device. These "studies" also heated up the device to a ridiculous temperature that no e-cigarette user would ever use. When they lowered the temperature to a comfortable level that most people use it at, they found no trace of any carcinogen.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying vaping is good for you. I'm not an expert, but what they're saying making sense. If I heated up a piece of chicken to 4,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit, I'm sure I would produce formaldehyde somewhere in there. No one would eat a piece of chicken that was overcooked that badly.

The cons of vaping are pretty simple. It's not like a regular cigarette where you can just pull one out and light it up. It requires a charged battery, e-liquid, and a coil. Also, e-cigarettes have been known to produce an immense amount of vapor when compared to a regular cigarette. That's why people frown upon it and you can find so many Twitter pages that make fun of those people. I agree, vaping in public can be quite annoying when you're blowing it in everyone's faces. Somehow, this is not acceptable but cigarette users never get any ridicule when they are blowing their carcinogenic smoke everywhere. Society is a weird thing to understanding and it will take a while for people to understand why they should prefer vaping in public as opposed to smoking a cigarette.

Moral of the story, vaping shouldn't be put down because it is helping people live healthier lives. However, once they quit cigarettes, they should also learn to lean off using an e-cigarette. I believe that is the whole purpose of e-cigarettes. I don't think people should just buy one and pick it up as a hobby. Use it if you actually need it and be smart, people.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
