Every Sunday, millions of people travel to church to observe the day of rest, worship God, and prepare for the week ahead. While it is a good common practice for any Christian, it should not become something one comes to resent.
When I was little, my parents rarely ever missed church unless they were ill or set aside maybe when they would one day out of the year to take a Sunday off. It began to feel like less of an emotional thing, and more like school; a required and tedious chore.
Church is not just a place, it is the body of Christ; the people who are a part of the kingdom of heaven. We come together for fellowship, to worship God and set aside a part of our week to spend time on our relationship with him. It should not feel like a burden; it should help lift a few burdens off your shoulders.
You will never find a perfect church. They're going to have a Sunday where they play a few songs that you don't really like. The pastor might say something you disagree with. Sometimes people who go to your church might bicker, fight, and even leave. None of that is your focus; your focus should be on God. Find a church where you feel God's presence and that makes you excited to wake up on Sunday morning. Where the people are your family, and you know they will hold you accountable, pray for you, and live life with you and care about you.
There are going to be days when you really want to stay in bed, and while it isn't wrong to have bedside baptist every once in a while, it shouldn't be a habit. Church refills your spirit for the week, refocuses your life, and keeps you disciplined in your walk with God. It will keep you reflecting on your time in church, and you will be motivated to continue with devotions throughout the week.
Hebrews 10:25 "Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship. But we must not do that.
