As some of you know, I have left my home church and became a member at Church of the Highlands. I recommitted my life to Christ on Saturday, December 8, at 2018 Freedom Conference. You can feel the power of God the moment you walk through those doors. While I do not know many people at Highlands, I have never felt more at home.
Highlands' senior pastor, Chris Hodges, started Highlands in 2001 and now over 45,000 people attend Highlands each Sunday. Pastor Chris also co-founded ARC, which helps pastors start churches, and founded Grow, which helps those pastors through training and resources.
Highlands is not your regular church. With missions at local, national, and international levels, Highlands is definitely serving God by serving others. Highlands also has a Correctional Ministry, reaching out to prisons all over Alabama. They have church services in those prisons and many come to know God through the work that Highlands is doing. Highlands also has Highlands College, where they prepare young people for ministry.
Highlands does not judge who you are or where you come from. Highlands believes that everyone deserves a chance to know God and accept him into your life.
Highlands' worship services are something to be admired. Each week the worship teams at each campus do not fail in creating a lively atmosphere. Highlands doesn't just attract young people. People of any and all age groups enjoy Highlands' worship services.
Pastor Chris also gives an engaging and informative sermon each week. During the Christmas holiday, the message is even more powerful because he makes us realize the TRUE meaning of Christmas.
Highlands also offers several small groups, with several being right here at Troy University. Troy also has Troy Hangout, a smaller version of ONE, which is a college worship night followed by a message by the student pastor from the closest campus. Since Troy does not have its own campus, dozens of students drive the 45 minutes to the Montgomery campus every Sunday.
I have never seen people so on fire for God as I have when I attend Highlands. Highlands is my home, and I am proud of it.
