The one word that describes my grandma: funny. Living in the same town as my grandma has given me so many opportunities to just hang out with her, which means there is almost always a new story to share. She has a unique personality that you probably won't find in anybody else in this world and would be described as one of a kind. There are a handful of stories with her that are top-notch funny, and I can't help but share them with everyone.
One day, my mom, my grandma and I all decided to go to Omaha (about 45 minutes from our hometown of Fremont) to do some shopping. On our trek there, we were all talking about how my grandma had just gotten wireless internet installed at her house. Like most people who are her age, she doesn't know a whole lot about technology and how it works, and that leads me to the thickness of my story. This was the very conversation between us all that surely made my mom and me laugh:
Mom: "So how is the new internet working out for you?"
Grandma: "I just don't understand it. It's not working well for me."
Mom: "What don't you understand about it?"
Grandma: "I don't understand how it works. I need to be able to see it work in order for me to understand how the wireless connections work."
Me: "So you're saying you need to watch the WiFi waves go from your router to your device to understand it?"
Grandma: "Yes! I need to see the wireless waves go through the air and into my device, then I can understand how it works."
At this point, my mom and I were laughing hysterically, and my grandma wasn't sure why. We then explained to her how it worked and why you can't see the wireless waves. To this day, she still has wireless internet and is in the process of getting a new computer, along with a tablet she uses every now and then.
Even though my grandma isn't the most tech-savvy person, we still love her. She not only gives us some great stories to tell, but just a good and much needed laugh for the day. I appreciate that. Here's to everyone with grandmas like Bonnie.
