Many people think you can’t be sick or disabled if you’re not in a wheelchair or if you don’t have the flu but the truth is far from that. I live my every moment in pain, real true all over physical pain. You see I suffer from something known as Fibromyalgia, which means I have all over pain, fatigue, and many other problems that go hand in hand with it. I am sick, I am badly sick but yet, to the naked eye I look like an average every day 21 year old. On my good days just by looking at me you would not know I have a walker, let alone a wheelchair. You would not know I spend the majority of my time going back and forth to the doctors. There are many more problems that come with fibromyalgia, depression for example I mean how would you feel if you had to live in pain?

This is Alyssa’s story with her endometriosis;

“I've struggled with endometriosis since I was 14. Endometriosis is more or less an invisible illness since it deals with something every female goes through and everybody thinks you're just lying, faking, or dramatic and just tell you to get over it, suck it up, or do what everyone else does to relieve symptoms of NORMAL menstruation. My case, I could go two weeks without adequate food/water intake, bled to the point I was almost anemic, serious migraines, unbearable pain, nothing but pain and nausea. Being irregular also meant I lived in fear of a normal body function and often had to change out clothes because of stains. It took me 3 nurse practitioners and 2 doctors to finally get effective treatment, and the doctor I have now is even willing to do surgery to confirm/eventually "fix" my condition. It's chronic, it's debilitating when not controlled, and can lead to cancer, cysts, fibroids, and infertility when left to wreak havoc. It damages other organs as well. On an end note, I recommend anyone else who struggles with debilitating periods to seek help until you find someone who knows what they're doing. And DO NOT go to an obstetrician as they will only care about your fertility and possible childbearing chances rather than your wellbeing. Coming from experience."

Life for us is NOT easy but we put on a brave face, push through it and hope for a better tomorrow.

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.
