"Christopher Robin" is the adorable sequel to the "Winnie the Pooh" series. We follow a now-adult Christopher Robin as he faces the struggles of the adult world. This includes balancing work and family, as well as struggling with a sense of lost imagination, or fun.
The characters were true to their origins with a slightly new look to make them appear a little older but also to make them more realistic in the movie compared to cartoons. Of course, we also get to see the silly ways of our favorite Hundred Acre Woods residents. The adventure begins with Christopher Robin going away as a sort premise to him growing up and leaving his friends behind. Although he forgets them, they never forget about him.
So when Pooh needs help finding his friends he braves his way through Christopher Robin's tree to ask for his help. Eventually finding himself a long ways from home in London with none other than Christopher Robin. Thus brings Christopher on an adventure as he tries to figure out a solution to his works conundrum and bring Pooh home before he can cause too much chaos.
This brings Christopher Robin on an adventure that may help him rediscover what's really important to him.
Meanwhile, Christopher's wife and daughter have left on a trip to the countryside without him as work keeps him preoccupied. His wife grapples with the fact the man she married may not be who he was as his daughter wishes for her father's praise. She focuses far too much on her schooling as her mother worries about her having an actual childhood.
With much tension and silliness, we get to witness a journey that many themselves will go through as they transfer into the responsibility of adulthood. We may not have the loving faces of Eeyore, Piglet, Pooh, Tigger, and Rabbit to help us out but we all eventually struggle with maintaining our childlike joy with the reality of working.
Despite this, the movie did an amazing job of bringing a classic back to the big screen, as well as bringing about many laughs from the silliness of the cast. I may be biased though because I might have been the loudest person laughing in the theatre.
Still, I highly recommend you go if you get the chance to see this movie. It's a childhood classic that's been brought back to life.
