Christmas came and went and we all are still probably at home cuddled with our favorite pets and snuggling by the fire with mom, dad, the crazy cousins, drunk uncle, the whole shebang.
And this time has been long anticipated. Finally, a place where you do not have to stress over finals, grades, or anything school related.
Going to college in my hometown that is all I have known for my entire life of 19 years, I have grown to love Danbury's little quirks.
I've been a New England girl my whole life. And yes, I am a huge Patriots fan, I love my four seasons, and of course I'm a sucker for being on a lake. And I love to be home in Danbury for the holiday season.
So here is the best that Danbury, Connecticut has to offer during this time of year:
1. Seasonal Dunkin' Donuts Drinks
Yes, every New England girl has to have their cup of salted caramel hot cocoa, dunk-a-ccino, coolatta etc. Although I am a major Starbucks fan as well, Dunkin' Donuts are on every corner of Danbury and it is hard to pass one without buying one of their signature Christmas beverages.
2. Main Street Decorations
Danbury is not Danbury without its cultural main street, filled with people from all over the world who never fail to make Main Street a scene from a Norman Rockwell painting every Christmas.
3. Main Street Tree Lighting
And of course any Main Street cannot be complete without a glowing Christmas tree!
4. Holiday Book Signings
Just this year, famous author Nan Rossiter offered a book signing at Hickory Stick Bookshop singing key works such as "Sugar on Snow" and "Christmas on Cape Cod."
5. Local Christmas Productions
My school, WCSU, has performed several Christmas shows in the past. This year, performing A Christmas Carol, and in the past Holiday Hideaway and The Snow Queen. Fun for the whole family!
6. Several churches with beautiful Christmas Eve and Christmas morning services.
Walnut Hill, St.Peters, and St.Joseph's to name a few!
So living in Danbury has been a true gift these 19 years, and as the holidays approach us this weekend, remember to be thankful for family and most importantly, your home!
