ChristmasFest 2016: Holiday Fun In NOLA
NOLA ChristmasFest

If you're looking for a great event to attend with friends or the whole family, ChristmasFest in New Orleans is the ideal holiday experience! Many parts of this event are indoors, meaning its a good excuse to stay out of the cold as temperatures drop into the lower numbers this week. One part of ChristmasFest is held at the only ice skating rink in New Orleans at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. If you do not own skates of your own, feel free to rent a pair from the range of sizes available so you can join in on the fun! The ice rink is 52 feet by 140 feet - plenty of room for the large crowd this event is sure to attract - so invite all your friends and family!

If you're not a fan of skating, there are plenty of other options for you if you want to enjoy ChristmasFest. The Warehouse/Arts District will be holding a host of holiday activities both indoors and outdoors. This includes two miles of beautiful lights for visitors to see as well as Christmas characters like Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Rudolph, who people of all ages can meet and get a memorable photo with. You can get your picture taken by a professional photographer and even acquire an autograph from your favorite character! This is definitely a good chance to make the holidays memorable for any children or Christmas enthusiasts in your life.

Another fun aspect of ChristmasFest is rides - Kringle Carousel, Winter Whirl, Amazing Funhouse Maze, and Snowy Summit Climbing Wall are just some of the amazing attractions that will be featured this season. With winter break on the rise, many kids will be jumping at the idea of taking part in these rides and the rest of the ChristmasFest experience. You can buy tickets for adults, students, and children, and luckily the event includes parking, so don't stress about finding a spot. ChristmasFest runs from December 16th to the 30th, and is open every day from 10 a.m. to 8. p.m., giving you plenty of time to check out every aspect of this special holiday festivity! Just don't forget that there are special hours on Christmas Eve (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Christmas Day (2 p.m. to 4 p. m.). Whether you're a Christmas lover yourself or want to treat the holiday enthusiasts in your life to a day of winter fun, ChristmasFest is guaranteed to be a blast - just don't forget to pack your scarf and mittens if you're planning to brave the outdoor events this year!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
