What do you think when you first think of Christmas? You think of a holiday where you get presents and drink hot chocolate right? Well there is much more meaning behind Christmas than you may think.
Sure, Christmas is about the gifts and hot chocolate but have you ever stopped to think about the reason Christmas was created? (Jesus was not born on December 25th either) Christmas was there to bring families together and celebrate the time as a whole.
Many families have different traditions, some go out and see the lights on Christmas Eve. Some watch "A Christmas Story", and some even make cookies for "Santa". There are countless amounts of traditions and beliefs on Christmas, but they all fall on the same core value of the holiday and that is family.
Family is a big part of what makes a day special, and has the most impact on children and even adults. The holiday is there to bring together the family in a way where all the other issues of the year seemingly don't exist in that moment.
Many find Christmas to be that one holiday that allows them to bond and grow closer to their siblings and other family members.
For many others, Christmas is a time to realize what you have and be grateful for the things you have/receive. Families are impacted in many different ways. Many families that cant afford presents for their kids, are allowed to pick up donated presents to give to their kids.
I know for me, this use to be the case. When I was younger my family didn't have enough money to afford much if any gifts. So gifts were donated to us, so that me and my siblings could have something nice for Christmas. It also allowed for My Dad to not have to worry about bills and other expenses on top of gifts.
All in all Christmas is about bringing the family together to create special memories they can cherish for the rest of their lives.
