Growing up, Christmas was always my favorite holiday. As I get older, I appreciate the traditions my family did with me and plan to carry them on with my own. Whether you have kids or not, these are super fun activities to do to get you in the Christmas spirit.
1. Cookies for Santa
Christmas Eve night, bake special cookies especially for Santa. We usually have a special plate we only use for this night. Don't forget to lay out carrots for the reindeer!
2. Jingle bells
This tradition started with my little brother and I plan to carry it on with my daughter. Christmas Eve night after we lay out the cookies and the kid(s) are falling asleep, I go outside and jingle bells. The kids think it's Santa's slay and makes the night magical!
3. Footprints in the snow
Before the kids wake up, go outside and make footprints in the snow to look like Santa's. You can even try and create reindeer footprints as well!
4. Letter to Santa
Along with the cookies, if your children are old enough, have them write a letter to Santa. After they go to sleep and you fill the stockings, write a letter back to them and sign it as St.Nicholas himself. They love it!
5. Christmas slumber party
After all the Christmas decorations are up, get the kids (or friends) and make beds in the living room by the tree. Watch Christmas movies and drink some hot cocoa. Great way to get into the spirit!
6. Decorating party
Plan on one day that everyone is home and get all the decorations out. Spend the day listening to music and decorating the house.
7. Christmas light drive
Grab some coffee or hot cocoa and bundle up in the car. Drive around town and look at all of the beautiful lights.
8. Cookie day
Go to the store and grab lots of sprinkles and fun things to decorate with. Make different colored frosting and cut out fun Christmas shapes and get to decorating!
9. Hot chocolate bar
This is one of my favorites. As soon as the weather gets cold, set up a hot chocolate station. We like to do jars of marshmallows, candy canes, chocolate chips, cinnamon sticks, and coconut. Have mugs for hot cocoa, and every time anyone comes in from the cold they have a variety of warm drinks waiting!
10. Crafts
Children or none, everyone loves crafts. Around the holidays, you can find the best kits around the stores. Pinterest is your best friend for this one. Grab some wine, hot cocoa or coffee and get creative. Great for those super cold days.
