10 Steps To Get You Into The Christmas Spirit

In This Article:

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and all the Christmas excitement is starting up. You are getting ready for all your holiday traditions with your family. Starting Christmas Eve...

You do any last minute shopping.

We all have that extra present we still need to grab or a last minute holiday plan that'll require a gift. Beware the packed grocery store that is full of stressed people shopping in time for the big day.

Binge watch your favorite Christmas movies.

One of the marvelous things about Christmas are the movies... You got characters like the Grinch, Rudolph and Scrooge. Misfits banding together in the spirit of Christmas. Santa Clause and his elves pulling an all-nighter giving gifts to kids.

Jam to all your favorite holiday songs.

Giphy

Some people love them and some people hate them. Then there are some people who only like them for a certain part of the season. There are some pretty good holiday songs...I mean, can we talk about Bruce Springsteens version of "Santa Clause is Coming to Town"...that jams. Anyways, these songs bring in the holiday spirit.

Drink Hot Chocolate or Apple Cider.

That warm hot chocolate with marshmallows or whip cream can melt the most frozen heart. If hot coco doesn't do it for you then apple cider might.

Finish your end of the night Christmas traditions.

Every family has their Christmas or holiday traditions. The kids leave Santa cookies and milk, maybe you open one small present on Christmas Eve or maybe you watch a certain Christmas movie. They are always very surreal moments that stick with a family for life.

It's Christmas morning and you are up early.

Giphy

When you are kid, you often went running and screaming into your parents bedroom on Christmas morning and sometimes it was at 7 in the morning. Even now it's hard not to wake up even a little bit early when it's Christmas day.

You open presents and watch people open yours.

Giphy

Opening presents is always fun but it is also fun to see people open the ones you got for them. Especially, if you put a lot of thought into it. When you were a kid, it was always exciting to get a toy you wanted from Santa and even when you are older it is still fun to open a present.

You go out in the snow and enjoy a "White Christmas"

Even if you aren't a fan of snow, a White Christmas still sounds like a beautiful sight. However, sometimes it doesn't always happen. I mean...I'm from Ohio and it is about to be 50 degrees on Christmas.

Then you start off your first family get together.

Some people have a lot of different sides to their families and that means there are multiple holiday parties to go to. You try and save room in your stomach to eat at each one. Christmas is a good time to spend time with family.

At the end of the night you sit back and relax

Giphy

It's the end of Christmas night and you are hanging out at home. Looking at your presents and possibly watching one last Christmas movie before the season ends. Perhaps, you are thinking about what you are doing for New Years Day.

Christmas is a beautiful holiday that is full of lights, music and family time. It's a winter holiday that is enjoyed with cookies and hot chocolate. I hope everyone has a good Christmas and a Happy Holiday!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
