Christmas Time Is For December Not November

Just because we are past October does not mean we can go straight to being in the Christmas spirit; the leaves are just turning and it is still warm enough to wear a t-shirt.

Christmas Time Is For December Not November

I probably seem like the Grinch when I roll my eyes at my friends and their Christmas Decorations already on their doors.

We still have a long ways to go before it should be acceptable to be singing Christmas songs. I mean seriously, I am sitting outside in a t-shirt writing this; it is not winter, or even close. Christmas time is watching the snow fall from the windows by the Christmas tree, not taking a stroll outside in a short sleeve shirt and feeling great. It was just recently starting to feel like Summer was ending at Halloween, so can we at least enjoy a little bit of fall before we are expected to be in full Holiday mode? I'm not a grinch, and I love Christmas just as much as the next person, but some people are starting to really overdo it when it comes to having a show of Christmas lights in their house when it is just early November.

Christmas is my favorite Holiday, don't get me wrong. At the same time, it's not like we started the spooky season in September. The perfect time to get into Christmas Spirit is December 1st. It isn't too early, but it is also not too late. We get 25 days of Holiday Joy before Christmas and almost a week more until the New Year. November should still include pumpkins, turkey, and fall leaves. Christmas time makes me think of sledding in the snow, not going to the pumpkin patch, picking apples, or watching leaves turn yellow, all of which are festivities for October and November. November is a good adjusting period- I hate the cold. I have barely accepted that it is fall, how could I possibly be excited enough for winter that I start decorating for Christmas?

Even if you love the snow or wearing an enormously large winter coat just to go outside for a few minutes, your holiday spirit can wait for the month of December to come around. Two months is such a long time to celebrate a holiday that only happens on one day. That means that we spend 17% of the year just for something that occurs on one day. By the time December 25th rolls around, I could not care any less about Christmas movies, Christmas songs, or anything else related to Santa. I am just ready for summer, palm trees, and the ocean. Well, to be honest, summer just recently ended and I am already excited for some stress-free time in the sun. I mean, who doesn't love summer?

December will be here soon enough; we will get the snow, the classic movies, hot chocolate, and warm cookies everyone is so excited about. Christmas is such a fun holiday to celebrate with your friends and family, but two months is a little extra and, at times, annoying for some of us. Until then, can we just relax and enjoy some pumpkin or pecan pie and the last bit of bearable weather we will get for a while?

Christmas is literally so close. We can almost taste it. But there is just one thing standing between you and the big day: FINALS. It's not the studying, lack of sleep, last minute cram sessions or crappy food intake that is the worst... but the fact that you cannot focus because, well, CHRISTMAS. How do professors expect you to focus when Christmas is soooo soon. For all my fellow Christmas lovers out there, I feel your pain.

One of the most dreaded places on campus is the library. Nothing awesome ever happens here. Usually, the only reason you're here is because you've procrastinated so long that the library is the only place you'll actually get stuff done. It gives you this feeling of sadness and impending doom. You have no idea how this is going to go or how long you'll be here, but you do know it is about to be the most excruciating experiences yet. But it has to get done, so you drag yourself to the lovely library.

With each new year comes new goals.

Deciding on a goal can be hard, unsure of what to change for this new year. A new goal for myself is to be happier and take care of myself more. I am a very driven person; so driven that I commit to a million and ten things.

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.
