If you're anything like me, you probably enjoy celebrating the holidays non-traditionally, and part of that is watching other Christmas movies, besides the ones they show every year around November and December. Here are some interesting films you should look into, but beware: some of these have touchy content!
Gremlins (1984)
Gremlins is a horror comedy about creatures known as mogwais, who, when exposed to bright lights, water, and are fed past midnight, turn into terrible creatures. It isn’t as bad as the other movies on this list, but you have to admit, the Gremlins are a bunch of creepy little buggers.
Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
This movie is a slasher film based around Christmas, meaning, a Santa-suit-clad killer is on the loose. The story goes something like this: a young boy witnesses both of his parents being murdered by a man in a Santa Claus costume, and as an adult, this influences his psychopathic behavior and results in him murdering several people on Christmas Eve. There is a lot of bloodshed, but don't worry (spoiler alert) the killer doesn’t get away with it in the end.
Jack Frost (1997)
Jack Frost is a movie about a killer mutant snowman. I know, it sounds a little crazy. You’ll just have to see it for yourself.
Black Christmas (2006)
This movie is something else. The main character's mother killed his father, threw him (the serial killer) in the attic, then forced him to impregnate her. He ended up murdering his mother, and was sent off to an insane asylum. Upon being released, he returned home, but by that time his home became a sorority house. With victims ready to go, the killer took advantage of the situation and tormented the sorority sisters alongside the child he conceived with his mother.
Happy holidays!
