Our Christmas Wonderland: Dorm Style

Just because we are here for two weeks doesn't mean we can't decorate for the holidays.

Our Christmas Wonderland: Dorm Style

So I'm driving in traffic for the longest time on my way back to campus, and I was so stressed. If there is anything that makes me rage it is traffic and bad drivers. What usually takes me a little over an hour took over two hours of driving. Holiday traffic is not the move. Anyways, so when I finally arrive to my dorm, I walk in on my roommate hanging Christmas lights in our room. My mood was instantly lifted.

Now you're probably wondering, "Why do I care what your dorm looks like for the holidays?" Well just wait for the pictures.

My roommate, Nate, texted me over Thanksgiving break asking me about decorating our room for Christmas and what we should do to it. I said yes to all of the ideas he shared because I LOVE Christmas. Knowing that my roommate shares the same love for the holidays made me even happier to be sharing a dorm with him.

The Saturday before we came back, Nate facetimed me showing me some cool string lights to hang around or dorm and I was so excited. He then proceeded to show me this cool neon light sign that says "Merry Christmas" and it is the COOLEST thing ever. THEN he asked if we could wrap the front of our door in wrapping paper and put bows on it. Is that even a question? I felt so even more excited to come back to campus now.

Okay, so I walk in and put my stuff down, drive me car to the parking lot, sprint back to the dorm, and start helping to decorate the dorm. Our dorm feels unbelievably cozy and I love it so much. We have lights hanging on the ceiling, around the window, around our beds, and the "Merry Christmas" sign is hanging on the wall for everyone to see. Our door is wrapped in cool wintry wrapping paper, and I have my Santa Hat hanging up. The room is a Christmas Wonderland I swear. That night a few of our friends in our group chilled in our dorm and they told us how awesome it looks. I put on an 8 hour long video of a fire place up on my monitor, put on some classic Christmas tunes, and the only thing that could have made it better was hot chocolate.

It was the best way to come back to college after a nice Thanksgiving break: friends catching up, Christmas music, holiday lights, and one special holiday-themed dorm room. It made my return less stressful and more fun. To some, this may seem to be cheesy or a waste of time since I'm coming back home for two months in two weeks, but that's not how I feel at all. Every time I come back from class I walk into my own Christmas Wonderland. Nothing better than that.

If you are in college and celebrate the holidays, decorate the room. It makes you miss home a lot less. After being home for over a week and being back here it makes me miss it a bit (especially my bed), but my Christmas themed dorm room makes me feel right at home. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate.
