When people come to visit the sites of Virginia, I always hear that it is so pretty and different than all of the other states-- though I never really paid any attention to the uniqueness of the state which I live in. It is sort of like, anything that is directly in your face and daily routine, you don't notice as much as you should.

However, I have always seen Richmond as one of, if not the prettiest, places to be during December and the winter holidays. Richmond, Virginia is dedicated to its Christmas spirit, and they intend to impress everyone around.

Between their busy streets and freezing temperatures, Richmond has the most amazing Christmas lights hanging throughout the city. Needless to say, Richmond has a multitude of stops for Christmas-lovers to add to their tacky light tour.

Above all the fun, pretty lights spread across the city, Richmond has several houses that top the charts every year. They even receive awards; now that's impressive!

The most impressive house this year, the one everyone has to see, is the Thompson's house, which can be found at 9716 Wendhurst Avenue. This house is so bright and vivid that their tacky lights just may be seen all the way in outer space.

Next on the must-see tacky light tour is a house in the West End on 8720 River Road. This beautiful house is decorated in red and white, resembling a candy cane. This house is so busy that it is advised for one to look at it during unusual hours, to ensure maximum viewing is achieved.

Following the Witlocks' house, Christmas lovers should visit Frank Hudak's house at 2300 Wistar Court. Frank calls himself Mr. Christmas and has been featured in the New York Times Magazine. Mr. Christmas can be found in his yard wearing a light-up suit on most evenings--he even has a beard this year. Can anyone say "Ho Ho Ho"?

Last but not least, everyone should visit Monument Avenue. Though these houses are not tacky, they are simply and elegantly decorated to match their beautiful mansions. They may not be tacky, but these houses should not be missed!

These four stops are nowhere near the end of Richmond's extensive Christmas lights, so don't stop there! Richmond holds hundreds and hundreds of tacky houses that Christmas lovers should visit, without a doubt.

Between Richmond's tacky lights, exquisitely decorated trees and booming activities, Richmond is the go-to location for all things Christmas.

For this Christmas, don't forget to visit RVA to see its jaw-dropping winter wonderland. Ho Ho Ho!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
